Jaarli is a main‑type spring wheat variety.

Jaarli is among the highest‑yielding main‑type spring wheat varieties. Its quality profile makes it an excellent milling wheat for key wheat‑growing regions. Grain‑quality traits:

  • very large grain size — comparable to later varieties
  • higher hectoliter weight than other main‑type varieties

Jaarli combines:

  • relatively high protein content
  • very good falling‑number stability
  • excellent gluten quality

making it highly desirable for milling.

Jaarli is ideal for:

  • professional milling
  • baking applications needing strong gluten structure

Jaarli has:

  • a medium‑length straw
  • good lodging resistance

Jaarli’s disease resistance is among the best of the main‑type varieties:

  • significantly lower septoria and brown rust incidence
  • yellow rust infections have also been very low

Despite strong resistance, fungicide treatments have produced:

  • significant yield increases
  • improved hectoliter weight
  • fewer shrivelled kernels

Jaarli performs well across the entire spring wheat area up to Southern Ostrobothnia. It is suitable for all soil types but produces its best yields on coarse mineral soils. Recommended zones: I–III in Finland.
