Winter‑hard BOR Leivo raises the baking quality of winter wheats to a new level. A well‑balanced variety with no weaknesses, developed through Boreal’s Nordic expertise in breeding for northern conditions.
BOR Leivo is one of the earliest winter wheat varieties. Its growth duration is more than two days shorter than that of the control variety Ceylon.
Considering its earliness, BOR Leivo has a good yield level. In Finnish official variety trials (2017–2024), BOR Leivo was 1% higher yielding than Ceylon.
BOR Leivo meets millers’ demand for a high‑quality autumn‑sown milling wheat. In Finnish official variety trials, all baking quality measurements gave excellent results:
BOR Leivo has a high protein content relative to its yield level, and both hectoliter weight and thousand kernel weight are good. Suitable for milling wheat and feed use.
BOR Leivo has a strong stem. Stem length is slightly above average.
BOR Leivo has shown no weaknesses in disease resistance in trials.
BOR Leivo is among the best winter wheat varieties in terms of winter survival. It has been more winter hardy than Ceylon in trials.
