A top‑performing variety in winter hardiness, and highly competitive in both yield and forage quality. Developed through Boreal’s Nordic expertise in breeding for northern conditions.
Valtteri is a high‑yielding and winter‑hardy meadow fescue. In Finnish official variety trials, its dry matter yield has been very high across stands of different ages and all cultivation zones. Valtteri’s forage quality is good, as is typical for meadow fescue. The energy value (D‑value) has been high at all cutting stages.
Forage grass.
Valtteri has shown only minor winter damage. Its winter hardiness is among the best of all varieties.
Valtteri is recommended for Finnish cultivation zones I, II, III, IV and V.
