Helmi BOR

A high‑quality milling wheat with very high yield potential and excellent suitability for baking industry processes.

Helmi is a very early variety.

Helmi has extremely high yield potential. In Finnish official trials (2015–2016):

  • the highest‑yielding early spring wheat at nearly all trial sites
  • in Zone III, Helmi is the highest yielding
  • it begins to outperform other early varieties already in Zone II

Helmi is a high‑quality milling wheat well suited for baking processes. Baking‑quality performance:

  • good gluten extensibility
  • excellent gluten strength
  • good grain size and hectoliter weight
  • good protein content

Helmi is a milling wheat.

Helmi has a very strong stem. Straw length is medium.

Helmi has average disease resistance among early wheat varieties. A fungicide spray at heading improves both yield and quality. Boreal cultivation trials (2017) showed that fungicide applications:

  • significantly improved hectoliter weight
  • increased thousand kernel weight

Helmi is recommended for zones I–IV in Finland. It also performs well on clay soils and shows good adaptability under variable conditions.
