Vipekka is later than Repekka, but on the same level as Harbinger.
In terms of yield, Vipekka reaches the level of the leading standard malting barley varieties. Its grain size is large and the proportion of larger kernels is high. As with other specialty malting barleys, Vipekka’s quality profile differs from standard malting barleys in protein content and especially in processing quality.
Vipekka is suitable for malting. It is a specialty malting barley produced exclusively under Viking Malt contracting.
Vipekka’s reliable cultivation is supported by its exceptionally strong straw.
Vipekka has good resistance especially to net blotch and Rhynchosporium (leaf scald).
Vipekka is well suited for cultivation across various soil types throughout the malting barley production area. It also tolerates acidity. Recommended for Finnish growing zones I and II.
