Laima is among the earliest spring rapeseed varieties. In Finland’s official trials (2019–2020), its growth duration matched that of the reference variety Trapper. Laima’s very low chlorophyll content demonstrates its earliness and adds stability in northern conditions. Suitable for cultivation in zones I and II in Finland.
Laima ranks among the highest‑yielding population varieties. It also competes well with many hybrid varieties.
Laima is a high‑quality rapeseed suitable for vegetable oil industry use. It has one of the highest oil contents among varieties, and its chlorophyll content is significantly lower than in other marketed varieties. Protein content is average for spring rapeseed. Laima is a 00 quality food‑grade rapeseed with low erucic acid and glucosinolate levels.
Laima has average lodging resistance for spring rapeseed.
As a population variety, Laima requires a higher sowing density: 150–200 seeds/m² = 5–8 kg/ha, clearly higher than hybrid varieties.
