A very high‑yielding hybrid rapeseed variety suitable for cultivation in southern Finland.
Lakritz is late‑maturing, but there are also slightly later hybrids on the market. Its growing degree days requirement is slightly lower than that of Majong or Brander, but significantly higher than that of Drago.
Lakritz has demonstrated excellent yield performance in Finnish official trials. It yields 15% more than the reference variety Trapper and outperforms all market varieties, including later‑maturing ones. Lakritz has a relatively high oil content (44%), which combined with the high yield gives outstanding oil yield. Before harvest, it is recommended to check chlorophyll levels in seeds to avoid quality losses.
Vegetable oil industry.
Lakritz has a relatively long stem, but its lodging resistance is excellent. In Finnish official trials, Lakritz has been among the most lodging‑resistant spring rapeseed varieties.
Lakritz is suitable for cultivation in zones I and II in Finland.
