Synthia is the first in its category: a Plus turnip rape — a new‑generation variety combining yield, stem strength and earliness. Its strong cultivation stability makes it an excellent choice for crop rotation on farms. Developed through Boreal’s Nordic expertise in breeding for northern conditions.
Synthia is an early variety. Its growth duration is two days shorter than that of Cordelia and SW Petita.
Synthia yields approximately 10% more than other turnip rape varieties currently in cultivation. Its yield advantage has been visible across multiple Finnish cultivation zones. Synthia has excellent oil production traits:
Vegetable oil industry.
Synthia has the strongest stem among turnip rape varieties. In Finnish official trials, its lodging percentage has been half that of the most widely cultivated turnip rapes. Because of its strong stem, nitrogen fertilisation can be slightly higher than for standard turnip rapes.
Recommended for zones I–IV in Finland. Synthia has performed well on all soil types but is not suited to the most drought‑prone fields. Recommended sowing rate: 1 seed unit/ha = approx. 6–7 kg/ha depending on unit size.
