Jussi BOR

An early potato variety that can be planted early in spring into cold soil. High yielding and resistant to potato cyst nematode. Developed using Boreal’s Nordic expertise in breeding for northern conditions.

Jussi is a good yield producer. Its traits:

  • Good drought tolerance, resulting in high yields in the second lift and late summer harvests
  • Produces many tubers per plant
  • Tuber size slightly smaller than other early potatoes → low risk of oversized tubers
  • Good flouriness
  • Tolerates handling fairly well

Jussi is suitable for early potato production. Disease resistance:

  • Resistant to potato cyst nematode (Ro1)
  • Resistant to potato wart
  • Late blight resistance similar to other early varieties
  • Scab resistance slightly better than average
  • No particular susceptibility to virus diseases

Jussi is suitable for cold soil planting and can be cultivated in all potato growing areas in Finland. It performs reasonably well in dry conditions. Recommended for zones I, II, III and IV in Finland.
