A very early and high‑yielding spring wheat with large grain size and high protein content — an excellent feed wheat for northern growing regions.

Iisakki is a very early spring wheat variety.

Despite its earliness, Iisakki is very high‑yielding, even in southern Finland. Grain quality in trials:

significantly larger grain size than other early varieties
comparable to the best main‑type varieties
good hectoliter weight

Protein content is very high, placing Iisakki among high‑protein wheats. For milling use, gluten quality is not optimal.

Iisakki is excellent for feed wheat, thanks to:

high grain size
high protein
good overall feed value

Iisakki has a relatively long straw for an early variety, but still:

very lodging resistant

In Finnish official trials (2010–2017), Iisakki has shown:

better‑than‑average disease resistance compared to other early varieties.

Recommended for zones: I, II, III and IVe in Finland. Iisakki performs better in southern Finland than many other early wheats. Trial results indicate:

strong performance on silty clay soils (liejusavi)
