A very strong‑strawed and high‑yielding variety suitable for feed, starch and malting. Outstanding resistance to net blotch.
Fennica is a late two‑row malting barley.
In official trials, Fennica’s yield has been at the level of the check variety RGT Planet. Its best performance is on moist, nutrient‑rich soils where its strong straw becomes most advantageous.
Fennica was approved as an official malting barley in Finland in 2019. As a high‑yielding and high‑quality variety, it is also well suited for feed and starch barley production.
Fennica has excellent straw strength. In official trials it is among the strongest‑strawed two‑row varieties.
Fennica has excellent overall disease resistance. Based on total leaf spot levels, it is one of the healthiest varieties in trials.
• Excellent resistance to net blotch • Typical two‑row resistance to Bipolaris leaf blotch • Not fully resistant to powdery mildew or Rhynchosporium (leaf scald)
Disease control should be applied according to real need and target yield.
Recommended for zones I, II and IIIe in Finland.
