Harbinger is bred for northern conditions. Its strong straw and good disease resistance make it a very stable variety. Harbinger has a high hectoliter weight and produces quality grain across different environments. It also tolerates soil acidity.
Harbinger is a fairly late two‑row barley.
Harbinger has strong yield capacity and ranks among the best malting barleys. In official trials, Harbinger has performed consistently well across zones I–III in Finland. Practical farm results confirm its yield and quality stability.
Thanks to its agronomic qualities and grain quality, Harbinger is excellent for feed, starch and malting. It was approved as a Finnish malting barley in 2011.
Harbinger has very strong straw.
Harbinger is fully resistant to powdery mildew. It also has good resistance to net blotch. Disease control should be done only when needed and according to target yield.
Recommended for Finnish growing zones I, II and III. Harbinger performs best on clay and mineral soils. For a two‑row barley, it also tolerates acidity well.
