An early specialty malting barley for Viking Malt contract production. Its exceptionally strong straw ensures reliable cultivation in northern conditions.
Repekka is an early two‑row variety in terms of growing time.
Repekka is a specialty malting barley bred for northern conditions, combining earliness with good yield. It is earlier than any standard malting barley. In terms of yield, Repekka reaches the level of the leading standard malting varieties. Grain size, hectoliter weight and the proportion of larger kernels are at an acceptable level. As is typical for specialty malting barleys, Repekka’s quality profile differs from standard malting barleys in protein content and especially in processing quality.
Repekka is suitable for malting. Its production is carried out exclusively under Viking Malt contracting.
Repekka’s cultivation reliability is supported by its exceptionally strong straw.
Repekka has good resistance, especially against net blotch and Rhynchosporium (leaf scald).
Repekka is well suited for cultivation across various soil types within the entire malting barley production area. It also tolerates soil acidity. Recommended for Finnish cultivation zones I and II.
