High‑quality, late‑maturing BOR Leena guarantees top yields — its low proportion of small kernels increases grower profitability, and industry values its consistently high quality. Developed with Nordic expertise for northern conditions.
BOR Leena is late but not extremely late. It requires 1031 degree days, the same as the late‑maturing control variety Donna in Finnish official trials, and less than — for example — Proxy or Jacky oats. BOR Leena performs excellently in southern Finland yet still matures reliably up to Southern Ostrobothnia. Recommended zones: I–III in Finland.
BOR Leena has high yield potential and produces stable yields. Its reliability is shown by:
BOR Leena thrives especially on clay soils but performs well also on coarse mineral soils.
BOR Leena represents top quality among late oat varieties.
BOR Leena has a thin, white hull and excellent dehulling ability (Boreal breeder trials). Fat and β‑glucan contents are typical for oats. Meets industry requirements exceptionally well. Suitable for food, export and feed oat markets.
BOR Leena has a relatively long but strong stem. In 2022 trials, stem strength differences were clearly visible and BOR Leena stood out. Less lodging than average in breeder trials.
BOR Leena has good resistance to leaf blotch and rust diseases. Boreal’s Fusarium testing shows its DON accumulation risk is around the varietal average.
