Meeri is the earliest oat variety on the market.

Among early oats, Meeri is a highly competitive yielder, with particularly excellent performance on soils with high organic matter content Meeri also provides excellent grain quality, making it suitable for industry and export. Grain‑quality highlights:

• highest thousand kernel weight among early varieties
• grain size surpasses that of many later varieties
• low proportion of small kernels
• high hectoliter weight
• protein content good relative to its yield level
• white grain with a fairly thin hull
• lower fat content than the early‑variety average

Meeri is well suited for:

• milling oat production
• export
• industrial feed use
• on‑farm feeding

Meeri has good lodging resistance. Straw length is the same as Akseli. In Boreal cultivation trials on humus‑rich soils:

• growth regulator application increased yield
• and improved thousand kernel weight

Meeri has average disease resistance among early oat varieties. Seed treatment and fungicides are needed when oats are:

• grown repeatedly on the same fields

Meeri is suitable for all soil types. Its strong stem provides excellent performance on soils with high organic matter content  in key oat‑growing regions. Growth regulators help maintain grain quality in dense stands. Before use, growers must consider intended grain use and any buyer restrictions. Recommended Finnish cultivation zones: I, II, III and IV.
