Oiva has medium growth duration.

• matures 2–3 days earlier than the latest varieties
• matures 5–6 days later than the earliest ones
• Growing degree days requirement: 988°C

Oiva is a high yielder for its maturity class, with particularly strong results in zones II and III in Finland. Suitable for all soil types. Grain quality:

• ideal for food‑grade oat production
• high thousand kernel weight
• low proportion of <2 mm kernels, the seeds are more uniform than in cultivars on average
• one of the highest and most stable hectoliter weights
• thin hull and white grain
• protein content good relative to high yield
• fat content relatively low

Oiva is excellent for:

• milling oats
• export oats

Oiva has a very strong stem, similar in height to Belinda, with low lodging risk. Growth regulator improves yield and quality on soils with high organic matter content.

Oiva has average disease resistance.

Management recommendations:

• seed treatment essential
• fungicide required when oats follow oats
• DON toxin risk higher than average

Rust control increases:

• grain yield
• hectoliter weight

Recommended for zones I, II and III in Finland. Suitable for all soil types.
